Guðrún Anna Jónsdóttir psychologist

Guðrún Anna is a biologist and a psychologist. She graduated with a Ph.D. in cell biology from Harvard University in 2005 and with a clinical psychology (cand. psych.) degree from the University of Iceland in 2012. Guðrún has since worked as a researcher at Decode Genetics, in addition to running her clinical practice at Sálfræðistofan Höfðabakka.

Guðrún’s therapy approach is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and she has attended several workshops related to this topic. The aim of ACT is to create a rich and meaningful life while accepting the pain that inevitably goes with it. This is accomplished by altering the relationship with thoughts and feelings, such that they have less impact on daily life, as well as clarifying values that are truly important to the individual.

Guðrún Anna offers psychological services in English to clients suffering from depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.

Guðrún’s office is located with Sálfræðistofan Höfðabakka at Höfðabakki 9. To make an appointment or to obtain additional information, please call 527-7600 or e-mail gudrunanna@salfraedistofan.is.
